Abounding in Good Works + Lavender Light Evensong

Dear Friends in Christ,

I'm writing today to let you know about an exciting opportunity to make real and lasting difference in the life of our parish and the wider community through the Abounding in Good Works initiative to renew the facilities of our church building for ministry.

As you may be aware, our downstairs space currently used for children and youth programs falls far short of our needs. After a season of information gathering and discernment, the Vestry has received bold architectural plans to transform this space into classrooms and meeting rooms worthy of the crucial ministries that will take place there. This new space will create opportunities for our children and youth to grow in knowledge and faith, and we expect that the renewed space will meet our growing program needs for at least a generation and build capacity for us to welcome new members and potential community partners.

St. Paul writes, “whoever sows generously will also reap generously…and God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having everything that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Cor. 9:6, 8).  We know these words to be true because of the grace we experience in so many ways at All Saints’ Church.

In the spirit of generous sowing and reaping, All Saints’ is seeking to raise $150,000 of the estimated $250,000 cost of this project in pledges from parishioners and friends of All Saints’ Church. The more that is pledged, the less stress will be put on our very modest reserve funds and the greater the impact of the renovations. To date, $70,462 has already been pledged or contributed toward this initiative from generous donors. We give thanks for this early abundance and invite you to join!

I ask that you prayerfully consider how generously you may sow this season. You can find pledge cards in the church or here; please return your completed card by mail or in person by Pentecost Sunday, June 9, when we will have a special celebration of good works. Abounding in Good Works pledges can be paid in full at the time of pledging or over a period of up to two years. Pledges can be paid by check or online at allsaintsparkslope.org/giving. Abounding in Good Works will support permanent improvements to our building, which means it is separate from our annual stewardship campaign, and pledges do not count toward your annual giving.

Special thanks go to our initiative co-chairs, Dr. Sharon Smith and Tom Cannell. All three of us are eager to answer any questions you might have. Thank you, and God bless you for your generosity.

In Christ’s love,
The Rev. Steven D. Paulikas
Rector
